Vinyl Wednesday: Dizzy Gillespie y Machito - Afro-Cuban Jazz Moods
Dizzy Gillespie, without any doubts one of the greatest trumpet players off all times, recorded this latin bigband album in 1975. Machito, his partner on this album, was pioneering in bringing together bigband and cuban rhythms. George Shearing, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker and Stan Kenton credited Machito as an influence. An intersection in East Harlem is named "Machito Square" in his honor. Read more about Machito on
