Running: Bye Bye tendon inflammation!

The nice thing about having an own website is that you can post whatever you like on it...
In this case a personal post about the healing of the tendon inflammation which plagued me for 1,5 years...
I am so happy it's over.

During the last years I became quite a passionate runner, and I can proudly call it my hobby. I am totally mediocre at it and very slow but it's a great stress relief and I love to be outside in open air. During the years I participated in several half marathons (21km) like Egmond, Zandvoort and Amsterdam. Preparing for these overwhelming mass events helps me to stay in shape.
For me the beauty of running lies in the simplicity. The only expensive items you really need, are good running shoes, preferably 2 or more pairs. Some breathing runningwear and I use my smartphone with a free running app. You can set a goal like preparing for an event or just hit "quick start".

What about the overwhelming mass events? What could be great about it?
Maybe it's similar to practising an instrument in solitude, hours and hours and then people gather together in a big event or festival.
Almost everybody can run, it doesn't exclude people from age, gender or nationality, "only" physical health. You don't have to be member of a club or be in a certain social class to participate. Running is open for everyone.

When I run outside of Amsterdam, towards a nearby village, most of the time one or more older people are overtaking me while greeting me... it always makes me smile. They might be stiff and old but at least they are fast.. and friendly...

In autum 2018 the heel pain started, it became unbearable, even taking a short walk hurt. Standing on stage for longer periods became a challenge.. finally, after some physiotherapy and exercises I went to an podiatrist who gave me custom made inlays. Once they were adjusted and since then it finally became better.

Since March I started to run again, little distances and kept building it up and today I can say I am back.. the comeback of the passionate mediocre runner! So watch out...

I will take it easy, I promise, but I cannot wait to run regularly again, along the river, in the parks, enjoying the fresh air and seeing rabbits, different birds, cows, horses, sheep and other runners!
