Gig vids: Fred Wesley & The New J.B.'s at Paradiso 24-04-2018 Part 3

Here's In Love in L.A., as Fred says "our one and only love song".
I think it's a nice atmosphere and sound and I am grateful that I could contribute to the concert although my g# key got stuck for a second in the middle of the solo..

Bop To The Boogie!

Bop to the Boogie, Boogie to the Bop Bop, to the Boogie, Bop, Bop! This song makes everyone smile.

It was a Tuesday in April, I played in the band of vocalist/ drummer Jamal Thomas. This was the opening act for Fred Wesley at Paradiso, Amsterdam.
Mr Wesley himself invited me to play a couple of tunes during his own set as well!
It was a great honor to play with him once again!
A dream come true... More videos will follow during the next days.

His band was great as ever, with Gary Winters (trumpet), Phillip Whack (tenor sax), Peter Madsen (keys), Reggie Ward (guitar), Dwayne Dolphin (bass) and Bruce Cox (drums).
The first time I met Fred Wesley, reaches back to May 2008 when I asked Fred for signing his autobiography. It was in 2008, a James Brown tribute at Paradiso, with Tony Allen, Pee Wee Ellis, Peter Madsen but also Cheikh Lô and others. Never could I imagine then that I would later play and record with this big artist. The more of his music I get to know, the more he amazs me. His oevre seems neverending and is very diverse.. A guy from Germany, Heinrich Buttler keeps track of all of his work...
