Gig pics: Jazz in Lisbon
Finally I had time for a little holiday. Last year in November we also went to Lisbon, enjoying the good music, great food and fantastic weather..
Lisbon and I have ben knowing each other for a long time. I came there in 2000 or 2001, when I visited my fellow musicians Lars Arens and Johannes Krieger, who both just moved to Lisbon after their graduation from Amsterdam Conservatory and visitied a few times during the next years. I performed with Portuguese musicians and also brought my own band and we even did a little tour in 2004 or 2005.
There's so much jazz in Lisbon, always has been. Unfortunately I didn't have time to go to one of my favourite jazz clubs in the world,
Hot Clube de Portugal this time, but we managed to go to
Nuno Ferreira's wekly jam at
Titanic Sur Mer.
Except Nuno on guitar, there were João Custodio on bass and Luis Candeias on drums. It felt so good to play jazz! I would like do it more often but there's so much more demand in dance music these days so I don't get to play jazz more often than once a month... Lisbon, see you again, soon!
