Pure uncut acoustic jazz. I've been to many Branford concerts in the past and I was really looking forward to it. I love their art of playing together, taking the audience on a journey of hard swinging, bad ass energy, but also creating lyrical and romantic moments and being funny and entertaining, strong influences of blues and gospel all around. Impressive how vocal virtuoso Elling blended in with the band.As much as I enjoyed the band, the sound of a jazz band is a problem in this hall. Also I missed the intimacy of a smaller place. I am curious how a jazz band would sound in Concertgebouw if the stage was placed in the middle of the hall in stead of frontal and people are sitting around it. Hopefully Branford will return to Bimhuis one day, this is a band I could see every week live.
