Saxophonist Susanne Alt's sixth studio album is a return to the roots that ignited her passion for jazz, drawing inspiration from Joshua Redman, Kenny Garrett, and especially Roy Hargrove. Hargrove left a profound impact on her music, particularly through their late-night jam sessions after jazz festivals. She dedicated her new album, "Royalty for Real," posthumously to Hargrove, who passed away in 2018, and revisits the acoustic jazz that marked the start of her career.
Susanne Alt, who studied (also red.) classical saxophone, is also active as a DJ, playing saxophone along other dj's,,and produces dance music. She wrote the compositions for "Royalty for Real" during the Covid-19 pandemic. In New York, she recorded the album with James Hurt, Gerald Cannon, and Willie Jones III, bringing her musical journey full circle. The result is an album that is extremely soulful and funky, showcasing her evolution as an artist.
