Vinyl Wednesday: James Brown - Revolution Of The Mind

Revolution of the Mind: Live at the Apollo, Volume III is a live double album by James Brown released in 1971. As its subtitle suggests, it is Brown's third album recorded at the Apollo Theater, following the original Live at the Apollo (1963) and Live at the Apollo, Volume II (1968).The album is notable as the first of his live albums to include a spoken introduction by his longtime master of ceremonies, Danny Ray.
This album has been recorded after the Europe tour and some band members had left ( I just checked in James Brown's autobiography). So, Bootsy just left, but Fred Wesley stayed.. St. Clair Pinckney still in the band, probably the saxophonist who played in James Brown's band for the longest time. Maceo Parker sounds a lot like him but "Pinck" has that significant squeek which somehow echoes the squeeks of JB's voice...
Further: Bobby Byrd on vocals and keys, Jimmy Parker (alto sax), Jerone 'Jasaan' Melson and Russell Crimes, trumpet; Hearlon "Sharp Cheese" Martin and Robert Coleman on guitar, Fred Thomas on bass, John Morgan and Jabo Starks on drums and Johnny Griffin on congas.

This Sunday, 15-07-2017, "The Original JB's" will perform at Paradiso, Amsterdam! Featuring Martha High, Fred Wesley and Danny Ray. from the pictures I saw, it includes many members of the James Brown band I met in 2007, including bass player Fred Thomas, Hollie Farris, Leroy Harper, Spike Nealy... Looking forward to it!
