Vinyl Wednesday: Chuck Brown - Live '87
Unfortunately I never saw Chuck Brown live.. Also I missed the whole
Go-Go funk from the 70's and 80's and only learned about it a little longer than 10 years ago.
Having listened to this album many times, what caught my eye when writiing these lines: This album is produced by
Stephan Meyner from Germany, who also produced some important records by Geri Allen, Maceo Parker, Fred Wesley and Pee Wee Ellis, along with other artists.
Wikipedia about Brown's legacy: He is called the "Godfather of Go-Go" and was considered a local legend in Washington, D.C. Darryl Brooks, a local promoter who worked with Chuck Brown during his career, stated, "He was a symbol of D.C. manhood, back in the day, because of the authority that he spoke with. He just spoke from a perspective that black men could understand." D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray said Brown was "Go-go's creator and, arguably, its most legendary artist.
